Easter Weekend

Last weekend was really busy and so fulfilling at the same time! My little sister Alysson came to visit for the weekend, it was so much fun spending time with her even though it was for only a couple of days! I also got to see other great friends that came from Cali for the weekend.

It was also General Conference! It was a blessing that we had the opportunity to attend the Saturday afternoon session and sat 10 rows from the pulpit! We did not have tickets but we were able to obtain tickets through some random generous people, thanks to the sign that Dayan made! Signs work for future reference! It is such a blessing to be able to receive counsel and guidance from our Prophet and general authorities! It is an amazing blessing to be able to receive revelation in these latter days. I'm extremely thankful for my Savior and for his atoning sacrifice that he has made for mankind...for me... I'm ever so grateful for the gospel in my life and the over flowing river of happiness that it brings to my soul!

We also had Jon's mission reunion on saturday night. It was fun to get to meet some of his mission buddies! They had "empanadas" and other goodies from Argentina.  Later that night the girls had a snowball fight outside the house, I haven't done this in such a long time. It was mostly for Aly because she had never been anywhere where it was snowing! She said "It is so pretty". The weather has been really crazy lately one day we get sun, the next we get a snow storm!

Sunday we watched the first session at home and then headed to Jon's brother's  home to watch the second session and have dinner! We had delicious stake dinner (that beat Jon's stakes any day)! ;)

Holi Festival of Colors 2010!

"Jon being a model!"

We attended the Holi Festival of Colors down in Spanish Fork.  For years I’ve seen pictures, advertisements and promotions for this springtime event at the Krishna temple and every year I’ve missed it for some lame reason or another. Well I finally made it  and quite in style I might add! For those of you who are not familiar with this yearly tradition let me explain...

People of all walks of life, religions, races, social classes, and ages gather together to celebrate the arrival of spring, by simultaneously throwing colored powder at each other.

Holi  the festival of colors is undoubtedly the most fun-filled and boisterous of Hindu festival. It's an occasion that brings in joy and mirth, fun and play, music and dance and of course, lots of bright colors!

Thousands of people all throwing colorful powder into the air at the same time creating a rainbow that falls down on all in attendance covering everyone in bright colors.

CHEESE!

So dressing up in style and having a fake "trashing the dress" phtoshoot was our amazing photographer's idea (Scott Jarvie) ! Jon was super excited, at the beginning I had a few hesitations doing this, since I had never been there before and didn't know what to expect and two it is just a crazy idea to do it in a wedding gown!

None the less, we decided at the last minute to do it, so we went and bought a suit and a wedding gown. ( not the real dress) It was a TON of fun! It felt like we were the center of attention at the festival.  We had so many people asking us if they could take pictures of us.

Before!

After!

The only part I didn't quite like was during the whole explosion of colors, this huge cloud of colored powdered formed and we where right in the middle of it and I could not breath or see anything oh yeah and the part where Jon was throwing all this purple powder down my throat you can see it in some of the pictures I have purple teeth! For about 2 days I was coughing up purple powder! Yes I know we are crazy for doing this but we had a blast!
