Emery's Blessing Day

Holy cow, what a day!

First off, THANK YOU to everyone that came to the blessing. We had friends and family come from bear and far -any of whom we haven't seen in years. Thank you for sharing the special day with us.
Kim spent so many hours looking for an awesome dress. She kept asking for my opinion, but we couldn't find anything we both liked. I didn't like any "traditional" blessing or christening/baptism dresses, and she didn't like any dresses that I was liking (at least not to be used for the blessing. Cuz you know - they're super cute). She finally found one that we both liked and got it just a couple days before the blessing. The detail on it is awesome!

I was really nervous about the blessing. It's hard to explain why - it's probably one of those things where you have to know me pretty well. I asked Kim for input and what she would have me bless Emery with. She said simply "Kindness." I loved it. Then when I actually blessed her, I totally spaced it!! Who does that??

It was such an awesome experience to hold my little girl, look at her and talk to her, expressing my hopes and dreams for who she will become. How I wish that Kim could do the same! I wish that Kim could have been in that circle of priesthood holders and shared that experience with me.

I love my girls! No matter what Emery does or who she becomes, I will love her, and so will her mother.

Ps since I failed at the blessing, I'll probably take some time and write a letter, including all my thoughts and feelings. I may publish that, but I doubt it, just for the same reasons I won't be publishing the actual blessing.
